When you come to make a claim irrespective of the type of claim, they will ask for proof of travel, your departure and return tickets so if this exceeds the trip duration limit on your Policy, your claim will not be honored.

Winter Sports Safety Tips
Skiing or Snowboarding can be a lot of fun. Follow these safety tips to ensure your Winter Sports holiday goes smoothly:
Dress in Warm Clothing. It would be best to wear several layers, which will trap the heat and make it easy to keep your body heat at a constant temperature by adding or removing layers of clothing.
It's also essential to invest in some thermal wear and a good pair of gloves to help keep you warm, but be sure to opt for artificial fibres which will not soak up moisture and sap your body heat.
Protect your Eyes. It is essential to wear sunglasses as the snow reflects the sunshine and can be very strong on your eyes.
Also, buying goggles is a good idea, especially at high altitudes.
Know your Limits. You should always know what you can and can't do on the slopes.
Important Information
To ensure your Travel Insurance remains valid, you must ensure that you are adequately supervised and that appropriate safety equipment (such as protective headwear etc.) is worn.
